TransitChek Products for the San Francisco Bay Area

TransitChek makes it quick, easy and convenient to help your business comply with San Francisco's new commuter ordinance. TransitChek features a number of products that will allow your employees to commute to work tax-free via Muni, BART, Caltrain, and all other transit operators.

This ordinance requires employers in San Francisco with 20 or more employees to offer, among other options, a commuter benefits program. The ordinance, which is intended to help reduce San Francisco’s 2012 greenhouse-gas emissions by at least 20 percent from 1990 levels, takes effect in late December 2008. The good news is that the TransitChek Programs not only reduce the transit and vanpool commuting costs of your employees, it also lowers your carbon emissions.

The TransitChek Program is ideal for small- and medium-sized companies that want to administer the benefit themselves. Companies order the products their employees need and distribute them monthly, quarterly, or in whatever timeframe is most convenient.

Larger companies may be interested in the TransitChek Premium Program, which offers direct delivery of products to employee's homes and more.

Products offered in the TransitChek Program include the following:

BART High Value Ticket:

The BART High Value Tickets can be used to pay for commutes via the BART system. Funds are subtracted from the card based on the distance of travel, and the card is not limited by time period. Click here for more information about BART High Value Tickets.
Tickets are available in $45 and $60 denominations.

TransitChek Card:

The TransitChek Card*, a prepaid Visa^® card that works like a debit card, can be used to purchase tickets and passes with tax-free dollars at ticket vending machines for any transit service that accepts Visa debit cards, including BART, Muni, Caltrain, TransLink, Amtrak and Golden Gate Transit & Ferry.
Cards are available in $30, $35, $45, $50, $60, $65, and $115 values.

TransitChek Vouchers:

Use TransitChek Vouchers like cash to pay for commuter rail passes, bus, ferry and eligible vanpool costs. This includes BART, Muni, Caltrain, Golden Gate Transit & Ferry, and more.
Vouchers are available in $50, $45 $35, $30 and $15 denominations.

Placing an Order:

First, survey your employees using the Employee Enrollment Form to find out which products to order. Then, fill out the TransitChek Order Form** and return it along with payment. Your order will be sent within 7 to 10 days of receipt of payment. TransitChek Cards will arrive in a separate shipment, but within the same time frame.

If your company is already enrolled in the TransitChek Program make sure to include your customer number.
